News from the VotemasterGuess who made $984,000 in 2006? If you guessed the Obamas, you got it right. Barack Obama posted his 2001-2006 income tax return yesterday. Hillary Clinton said she would make hers public shortly. Craig Crawford made a wonderful video about how the Democrats could choose their nominee. Basically, the PLEOs and superdelegates are going to make the call; that is already obvious. So he proposes they have a miniconvention in June to thrash it out. He compares it to the College of Cardinals choosing a new Pope except that no smoke will be issued when they have a winner because Democrats are against smoking. Definitely worth the 2 minutes it takes to watch it. Over at TPM Cafe a reader wrote a piece saying that, yes, it is tough being black in America, but it is also tough being a woman and being taken seriously. Obama supporters know that their man has triumphed over a lot of bigotry but often give Hillary little credit for having to deal with being called a "Vaginal American" on MSNBC and a lot more. Not funny like the Crawford video, but definitely insightful. Some more general election polls were added to the data bases. Hopefully they will be fairly complete before long. Please note that polls from the partisan pollsters are not being used at all this year. They can't be trusted. The polling results for all states are available as a Web page and in .csv format. One new poll in Pennsylvania. Clinton is still way ahead.
Here are the delegate totals from various news sources rounded to integers (Democrats Abroad has 22 delegates, each with 1/2 vote). The sources differ because in most caucus states, no delegates to the national conventions have been chosen yet, just delegates to the district, county, or state convention so there is some guesswork involved. Furthermore, some of the unpledged delegates are elected at state conventions in May or June. Finally, the PLEOs (Party Leaders and Elected Officials) sometimes waver and may tell different reporters slightly different stories that they interpret differently. Delegates
Needed to win: Democrats 2024, Republicans 1191. Here is another source for delegate totals. -- The Votemaster |
