The House race between incumbent Robin Hayes (R) and high school teacher Larry Kissell (D) is still a cliff hanger. Manual recounting of the ballots is taking place. That a totally unknown high school teacher could fight a wealthy four-term incumbent who is the grandson of a textile baron to a near-exact tie is amazing in itself. The latest figures put Hayes ahead by about 170 votes.

SurveyUSA has just released it latest popularity ratings on all 100 senators. Food for thought for 2008.
