The Democrats took the House although several races are still undecided.
In the Senate, control depends on who wins Virginia. Democrat Jim Webb currently leads by 7000 votes,
but there will be a recount. This race could fester
for weeks in the courts.
Unlike Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004, the Democrats control the Virginia electoral machinery.
In case you just remembered that election law was your favorite subject in
high school, you might want to check out
Election Law Blog,
which is written by a Los Angeles law professor, Rick Hasen, who specializes
in election law. Looking at his stats, over the past month, he has been getting
about 500 visitors a day on weekdays. I suspect his traffic is going to pick up
a bit in the coming weeks.
For the record, electoral-vote.com had 520,000
visits yesterday. All the servers held up well. Three cheers for both
HostRocket.com, my
primary hosting company, and PlanetLab,
which handled about 40% of the load. If your company needs a solid Web hosting
company with good tech suport, I can recommend HostRocket.com very highly.
Special thanks go to Prof. Gun Sirer of Cornell for help with PlanetLab.
