What Each Candidate Needs to Do to Win
Lots of publications are putting out stories about what Kamala Harris and Donald Trump need to do to win. Here is a
list
for Harris:
- Get close to the 92% of Black voters and 59% of Latino voters that Biden got.
- Have abortion drive women to the polls in huge numbers.
- Increase Democratic support in the suburbs among (former) Republicans.
- Neutralize Trump on the economy and immigration.
- Run a superior ground game to Elon Musk's amateurs.
Is that easy? Probably not in the final 2 days, but she has been working on these things for months.
Now, what about Trump? What does he need to do? Here is his
to-do list:
- Narrow Harris' lead with Black and Latino voters.
- Crack the blue wall and pick up one or more of the three key Rust Belt states.
- Get Nikki Haley voters to come home to the party in the end.
- Have young men turn out in unprecedented numbers.
- Hope his gamble on outsourcing his ground game to Elon Musk works.
He's been working hard on all of these as well. The problem for both candidates is that there is so much to do and so
little time (left) to do them. (V)
