News from the VotemasterPolitical guru Charlie Cook Has a nice piece on Rudy Giuliani. Like everyone else, Cook is perplexed how a guy who married his cousin, got an anullment, then got married and divorced and married again could be the Republican front runner (and then there is the matter of his pro-choice, pro-gay, pro-gun-control views, all of which are extremely well documented). Cook's explanation lies in a number of polls that show very few voters know anything at all about Giuliani's personal life and equally little about his liberal social views. When pollsters told the people being polled about these things, Giuliani's support dropped sharply. Cook does not believe that Giuliani will get the nomination because he can't keep these things hidden forever. A new New York Times/CBS poll shows that 6 out of 10 Republicans are not satisfied with the current crop of presidential candidates. A lot can change in the coming year. Stay tuned. This page is the prototype for 2008. The data and map will refer to previous elections until serious polls begin in 2008. The blog will be updated when there is interesting news about the 2008 races.
