If you didn't visit the site yesterday, there was a long discussion of key Senate races and who is likely to control the Senate in January. On this site, at least, time travel is possible. To go back to yesterday, click on "Previous report" to the right of the map.

We have two polls to report today, Nevada and New Jersey. Bush is maintaining a 2% lead in Nevada and Kerry is way ahead (11%) in New Jersey. Zogby is releasing a large number of polls later in the day. We will have them Tuesday morning bright and early.

Charlie Cook, the guru's guru, has now said It's Kerry's to lose. Whether you like his conclusion or not, the article is worth reading. Cook is very highly respected by everyone in Washington.

A reader who is a high school teacher said he posts the electoral maps in his classroom every day and encourages his students who will be 18 by election day to register and vote. He even explains to them where to go to register. Sounds like a good idea. Worth copying if you are a high school teacher or otherwise work with young people just turning 18.

I was thinking about advertising the site in places beside blogs. If anyone in a swing state knows of a local talk radio host who likes politics and has a web page that takes ads, please try to find out what the edvertising rate is and let me know. Other targeted suggestions for things besides blogs are welcome. Major blogs I can find myself.

Thanks to the programming skills of Web developer Eric Paulson of Viking Web Development, the map has a new feature starting today. To see it, click on the state you are registered to vote in. Americans overseas should click on the state you last lived in, since that is where you are (or should be) registered. If you are not registered to vote, you are not allowed to click on the map until you register.

I would also like to thank 'Grumpy' for writing the software that produces the electoral college graph, the state poll graphs, the bar charts, and other aspects of the site. If Kerry wins, he morphs into Happy.
