News from the Votemaster

No news about 2008 today, but if you want a steady stream of political news, in capsule form, and without any bias, Political Wire is the place to go. The editor, Taegan Goddard, who also wrote a political book ("You won, Now What?"), collects political news items from many sources and posts short summaries continuously all day, with links to longer pieces. He must spend all day reading the media and other blogs because he has most political news items very shortly after they appear. He also frequently has pungent quotes from leading politicians and consultants. Here is a recent typical example:

Dick Morris looks at the four leading GOP presidential contenders in 2008 -- John McCain, Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Rudy Giuliani -- and notes "the only one of these guys who hasn't had multiple wives is the Mormon."

If you are going to read only one political news blog for information (as opposed to partisanship or advocacy), this is clearly the one to read.

This page is the prototype for 2008. The data and map will refer to previous elections until serious polls begin in 2008. The blog will be updated when there is interesting news about the 2008 races.
